One in Ten

A very interesting news from iMerlion:

According to calculations, one in 10 people in Singapore have an iOS device, making Singapore the country with the highest penetration in the world.

Also from that article, iOS devices breakdown:

  • 402,922 iPhones
  • 76,575 iPod Touches
  • 1,453 iPads

Remember when it was weird to walk while poking your phone? Yeah, me neither.

Selling like hotcakes

“We believe Apple is now selling >200k iPads/week, greater than US Macs (est. 110k Macs/week) and just below US iPhone 3GS first quart (246k/week).”

Wow... just wow...

New World - Old World

When the iMac came out, Apple drew a line in the sand. They said: we are no longer going to ship a computer with a floppy disk drive. The entire industry shit its pants so loudly and forcefully that you probably could have heard it from outer space.

A good read about the old world and new world of computing, and of course, iPad.

Future Shock

If the iPad and its successor devices free these people to focus on what they do best, it will dramatically change people's perceptions of computing from something to fear to something to engage enthusiastically with.

Do "normal" people fear the computer?

iPad

Nice screen + long battery life + App Store = WIN!

Seriously, I think iPad is an awesome video game device. Imagine playing multiplayer Mario Kart with a bunch of these devices in your living room. Probably it's better than Wii + big TV + splitscreen multiplayer (which is usually up to 4 players).

Yeah, and most games are cheaper on the App Store (1-2 bucks, compared to 50ish console games).

Oh, did I mention that it's not that expensive? It's even cheaper than Google's Nexus One.

Mind = Blown.
